Groundwork is an approach for organising and collaborating in complexity that is based on the nature of living systems. We work from the assumption, as Otto Scharmer observed, that “the quality of the field determines the quality of the yield”. When we work with organisations, it is the day-to-day practice of cultivating the right conditions which gives rise to powerful collaboration. We call this practice Groundwork. Through consciously practising Groundwork we can become even better at cultivating the conditions that enable self-organisation, participatory leadership and other capacities we see as essential for collaborating powerfully, nurturing life, generating movement and innovating solutions in complex, adaptive systems like ours.
